If you’re a skilled procurement professional looking for a role in a category lead capacity, we can help you find the position that’s perfect for you.
All of our consultants have extensive experience in the procurement sector, and we only recruit for vacancies in procurement work. This means that we have specialised knowledge and a deeper understanding of what it takes to make it in procurement than many other recruitment organisations.
Our goal is to place talented procurement professionals in jobs they are capable of carrying out.
The Role’s Requirements: Skills and Experience
Your main goal as a category lead is to ensure that procurement costs within your purchasing category are minimised, in order to deliver a greater amount of value and thereby strengthen the entire supply chain.
Therefore, the role requires a wide set of skills and attributes.
First, you must have several years of procurement experience to be eligible for a category lead role. It is a management position after all, so you must be able to confidently supervise category analysts and advise junior members of the team on various issues.
As a category lead, you are often required to make important and lucrative decisions in a short space of time, so you must be able to demonstrate an ability to cope with the stress and responsibility of the role.
It is also worth bearing in mind that not every company works the same way, so adaptability is a very sought-after trait.
